Group of Bikers from Assam Entered Meghalaya amid Inter-state Travel Ban

Meghalaya, 26th July: A group of 60/70 bikers with pillion riders and two Boleros, which were proceeding towards Mawsikar and Langpih, violating Interstate Movement prohibition.

They were prevented from entering the village by villagers who set up roadblocks along the road. As per reports, the Motorcycle Group was from Assam.

Immediately after receiving the information, authorities arrived in the villages to take stock of the situation.

Several parts of Meghalaya’s West Khasi Hills District are under 3 days complete lockdown.

According to updates from Meghalaya Police, the Motorcycle Group from Assam was directed to return back to Assam, as inter-state movement is currently prohibited.

As of now, all the bikers have left Mawsikar and Langpih area under Assam police escort.

As Mawsikar and Langpih villages are disputed areas, the matter is, therefore, being closely monitored by the Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills who is coordinating the same with Superintendent of Police, Kamrup District, Assam.
